Working From Home, The Way It’s Supposed To Be

At FFUSA, we make it possible for our people to write deals and do business from the comfort of their own home. What follows is a guide on how to make the most of doing just that.

Dress for success

Research shows that you’re more productive when you’re reasonably dressed up, so it might be best not to lounge around in pajamas all day. We would recommend that you at least dress professionally from the waist up, as you never know when an important video conference might come up.

Remove Distractions

Working at home means that you have access to your bed, television, food, and pets. These are all wonderful things to have, but they can easily become very distracting when you’re trying to get work done. Do the best you can to block time for things like preparing meals and catching up on the news, and try not to let any one thing start to take up too much of your time.

Try Not To Gloat

Let’s face it, working from home is simpler. You know it, we know it, and your friends know it. It can be very easy to start off a story you’re telling to a friend by saying “So the other day I was firing off some emails from my couch, when suddenly…” We get it. You closed an important deal while wearing a bathrobe. Not everybody has what it takes to work from home, so try to have some sympathy for the people who have to sit in traffic for 90 minutes on the way to the office every day.

Make Frivolous Purchases

Working from home means that you’ll no longer have to fill up your car twice a week from commuting back and forth, and it also significantly cuts down on car maintenance you’ll need. If you’re running your own business, it means you don’t have to pay to rent out office space and have access to expensive business internet packages. With all the money you save, it might be fun to do something a little unusual with it, like purchase an Amazon Echo, Google Home, and Apple HomePod and having them all talk to each other. Just an idea.
