Case study:  Cute independent bookstore in a swanky resort town; with bookstore software, two POS, and card swipe terminals attached to each.  All seems right, right?   Problem was, intermittently American Express would get declined when it would actually go through. They’d run it again and decline, but it would actually go through.  Customer would have to pull out a VISA or whatever and it would work.  A month later the customer, back at home after swanky vacation, would call complaining they had 2 charges on their American Express card – you get the story.  This went on for years, the POS software people pointed at the card reader people who pointed at the processing network, who pointed at everyone but themselves.  Finally the bookstore threw up their hands and said, “Screw it! We’re not taking American Express.”  This of course didn’t sit well with their swanky clientele.   – They took us up on the $1,000 challenge and we figured it out.  It took a couple calls and turning the dials a bit, but now that cute little bookstore is as happy as a clam.

This is still the wild west of card processing.  Because there’s money involved some banks in the world are interested, but most have other bigger interests in other areas and gaming just isn’t it – too legally complicated for the payoff.  You need to be legit and adhering to state, national and sometimes international laws.  If you’re selling pull tabs in a bar in Wisconsin that also sells food, that’s one thing.  But, if you’re an online casino that’s another and just not what we’re interested in spending our time on.  Good luck.
